Pep Guardiola Biography
Josep “Pep” Guardiola i Sala (Santpedor, Spain, January 18, 1971) is a former Spanish footballer and current coach of FC Barcelona. He played as a central midfielder and is one of the most successful players in the history of FC Barcelona. Since 2007, Guardiola joined FC Barcelona, first as coach of the B-team and since May 2008 as head coach.
General information
Guardiola was born on January 18, 1971 in the Clínica de Sant Josep in Spain. He grew up with his parents and Valentí Dolors and his two sisters and younger brother in the Catalan town Santpedor. After secondary education Guardiola studied Law at the Universitat de Barcelona. His university studies and his career at FC Barcelona went together difficult and lack of time he finished his studies after a year. He is regarded as an intelligent person and Guardiola is a lover of film and theater. Guardiola likes Catalan poetry, protest songs by Lluís Llach in particular, and occasionally he also hockey in his spare time. Guardiola is married to Cristina Serra, who he met in a clothing store when he was 18 years old, and they have three children, Maria (2000), Marius (2003) and Valentina (2008).
