Angelina Jolie BiographyAngelina Jolie (Los Angeles, June 4, 1975) is an American actress. She won three Golden Globes, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and an Oscar for her role in George Wallace (1997), Gia (1998), and Girl, Interrupted (1999). She gained international fame with her role as video game heroine Lara Croft in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), and established himself as one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood with the Tomb Raider sequel The Cradle of Life (2003).
Jolie proved her status as a successful action movie star with Mr.. After marriages to actors Jonny Lee Miller (1996-1999 ) and Billy Bob Thornton (2000-03), Jolie has since 2005 a relationship with actor Brad Pitt, with whom she has six children.
Youth and Family
Jolie was born in Los Angeles, California as the daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand. She is a sister of director James Haven, a cousin of songwriter Chip Taylor, and a goddaughter of actors Jacqueline Bisset and Maximilian Schell. Jolie has German, Slovak, French Canadian, and Dutch blood.
Jolie then six months old her father left the family, then with her mother and brother moved to New York State. Ten years later the family returned to Los Angeles, where the eleven-year-old actress decided Jolie and enrolling at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.
Though a happy childhood had touched Jolie in her teenage years depressed. In high school she was by her classmates teased her thin body and full lips, and wearing second hand clothes, glasses, and braces. During this time she cut herself and wore only black clothes. At the age of 14 she moved in with her first boyfriend, quit her acting classes and dreamed of a career as a funeral director. Two years later , after the relationship ended, she rented an apartment near the home of her mother and continued her acting training.

During her first UN trip within the United States in 2004, Jolie visited asylum seekers in Arizona. In June of that year she flew to Chad to visit refugees from the Darfur region in western Sudan. Four months later, she returned to the area for a visit to West Darfur. Later that year Jolie met with Afghan refugees in Thailand, and at a private residence in Lebanon during the Christmas holidays she visited UNHCR’s regional office in Beirut, as well as some young refugees and cancer patients in the Lebanese capital.
In 2005 Jolie visited Afghan refugees in Pakistan, during the journey she met Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz. In November she returned to Pakistan with Brad Pitt to the effects of the Kashmir earthquake to determine.
