Edward Thomas Hardy (born September 15, 1977 in London) is a British film and stage actor.

Short Biography

Tom Hardy is the son of a London fireman and an Irish mother. He graduated from the Drama Centre London and began his career as an actor in war movies, so in the 2001 miniseries Band of Brothers, and that same year in the war film Black Hawk Down by Ridley Scott. His international breakthrough came in 2002 with Star Trek: Nemesis as Shinzon movie villain, and was nominated for a Saturn Award for the role.

In 2003 he was also active as a stage actor and appeared in two plays at the Royal Court Theatre and the Hampstead Theatre. For this he received two nominations for Best Newcomer for the London Evening Standard Theatre Award and the Laurence Olivier Award for 2004. 2005 he was in the BBC series The Virgin Queen as Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester, the childhood sweetheart of Queen Elizabeth I to see. In 2006 he played in a Neuadaption the sci-fi series A for Andromeda is also one of the major roles.

2008 Hardy starred in the gangster film Rock N Rolla alongside actors like Gerard Butler, Tom Wilkinson and Mark Strong. In 2009 he starred in the docu-drama Bronson, the main role, which is based on the lives of dangerous prisoner Charles Bronson. For this role, he had to train yourself several pounds of muscle. In the same year he took over in the miniseries The Take by Martina Cole, the main role of a rogue drug-dependent and was nominated for the Crime Thriller Award.

2010 Hardy played for the first time at the American Theater in Chicago in the play The Long Red Road, in which Philip Seymour Hoffman was director. Also in 2010, he starred in Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster Inception as Eames. The latter committed Hardy again for his new Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises (2012), where the role of the villain Bane will take over. Other future projects Hardys are a remake of the classic Mad Max and the incipient film Warrior, where he will be seen in each of the major role.

Hardy was married from 1999 to 2004, and is currently with the British actress Charlotte Riley engaged. He has a son from a previous relationship.
